Summary
TeamUp is a joint project of War Child, Save the Children and UNICEF Netherlands and offers sports, games and exercise activities for refugee children aged 6 to 18 years. All activities have a deeper purpose and take place at fixed times during the week. This gives children something to hold on to and they can always look forward to something. They learn to make friends and trust others. In this way the children can relax, give their unpleasant experiences a place and be children again for a while. Necessary to feel safe again.Detailed description
Sports and play counselors for refugee children in the Netherlands
To strengthen our teams of enthusiastic volunteers, we are looking for team players who are willing to supervise sports, games and exercise activities for refugee children in the Netherlands for three hours a week. You will be trained and supervised by TeamUp and will start working at a location near you.
As a TeamUp volunteer you contribute to the social-emotional development of children, reducing the risk that they will develop psychosocial problems in the long term.
Function
You are part of an enthusiastic team of at least four volunteers. At a fixed time during the week, you and your team supervise activities for refugee children aged 6 to 18 years. These activities have a theme and purpose. In a playful way, the children learn to deal with, for example, anger, fear and stress.
You also have a signaling role. You learn how to recognize worrisome behavior and, if necessary, refer children to specialized care and guidance.
We provide proper training before you start.

- You are prepared to follow a training of two days in advance and a follow-up training later in the process. You will be trained in facilitating the activities and working with the specific target group.
What do we offer?
- The opportunity to gain work experience in this field and to further develop yourself;

Getting there
About Save the Children
