Summary

The De Kap Foundation is looking for volunteers who – together with others – can temporarily replace an informal carer for the flex pool “relief care at home”.

Detailed description

Who are we?
Stichting de Kap is an organization for informal care in Apeldoorn.
We support informal carers and deploy volunteers in all kinds of areas, including respite care.

Respite care is ensuring that informal carers can take a breather because there is good replacement care for the next of kin. Respite care can take place outside the home or at home.
The De Kap Foundation is looking for volunteers who – together with others – can temporarily replace an informal carer for the flex pool “relief care at home” .
For instance:
Caregiver Hannie: “I really want to go on holiday alone for a week, but then there has to be someone for my husband. We do have some friends who want to help, but there are still a lot of gaps to fill. There has to be someone there even in the evenings and at night”.

Or carer Hans: “I really need to take a weekend break again” Those few weekends a year ensure that I can recharge and maintain the care for longer.

  • Do you think it would be nice to help people like Hannie and Hans and their loved ones?
  • Do you have time to be there for them occasionally?
  • Are you flexible and do you know how to get things done?
Activities
As a respite volunteer you take over the tasks of the informal carer. This concerns the daily activities, such as shopping for or with the care recipient, helping with going to the toilet, helping with meals, light household tasks, such as washing the dishes or watering the plants. You do what it takes. Of course you also do fun things together, such as taking a walk together or visiting a museum. Do your best not to disrupt your daily routine. And you do everything in consultation with the cared for, the carer and the caregivers involved

We ask
  • affinity with informal carers and care
  • flexible deployability
  • willingness to follow an introductory course Respite Care at Home
  • Your presence ensures that the caregiver can leave with peace of mind and that the loved one is well.

What do you get in return?

  • A relevant introductory course and the possibility of following expertise promotion and intervision
  • Personal assistance
  • Reimbursement of the mandatory VOG application
  • Appropriate expense allowance
  • Volunteering at a friendly, informal organization
Time use: in consultation.
