Summary

The De Kap Foundation is looking for volunteers who – together with others – can temporarily replace an informal caregiver for the flex pool “relief care at home”.

Detailed description

Respite care is ensuring that informal carers can take a breather because there is good replacement care for their loved one. Respite care can take place outside the home, but also at home.

Caregiver Hannie: “I really want to go on holiday alone for a week, but then there has to be someone for my husband. We do have some friends who want to help, but there are still a lot of gaps to fill. There has to be someone there even in the evenings and at night”.

Or carer Hans: “I really need to take a weekend break again” Those few weekends a year ensure that I can recharge and maintain the care for longer.

- Do you think it would be nice to help people like Hannie and Hans and their loved ones?

- Do you have time to be there for them occasionally?

- Are you flexible and do you know how to get things done?

What are you going to do?

As a respite volunteer you take over the tasks of the informal carer. This concerns the daily activities, such as shopping for or with the care recipient, helping with going to the toilet, helping with meals, light household tasks, such as washing the dishes or watering the plants. You do what it takes. Of course you do. fun things together, such as taking a walk together or visiting a museum. Do your best not to disrupt your daily routine. And you do everything in consultation with the cared for, the carer and the care providers involved.

Where are you doing it?

In principle, the informal carer replacement takes place with the family member of the carer who needs a break, but it is also possible to invite the family member of the carer to your home in consultation.

You don't have to do this alone!

You do this together with the social network of the carer and his loved one. You often also work with a home organization and a good backup is always arranged. Depending on the length of time, several volunteers are deployed.

What is expected of you?

You have an affinity with carers and care

· You are flexible.

· You are prepared to follow an introductory course Respite Care at Home.

· By your presence you ensure that the carer can leave with peace of mind and that the next of kin is well .

What can you expect from De Kap?

  • A relevant introductory course and the possibility of following expertise promotion and intervision
  • Personal assistance
  • Reimbursement of the mandatory VOG application
  • Appropriate expense allowance
  • Volunteering at a friendly, informal organization

The motto of the Kap is: with each other, for each other!
