Summary
We show our Dutch culture and the Dutch language in a unique way to AZC residents who would like to integrate and participate as quickly as possible.Detailed description
The AZC residents who participate are in control. They indicate what they need. In close consultation we look at what is feasible and what is not.
The reason for this approach is that AZC residents feel that they have lost control over their lives, partly because the asylum procedures have suffered serious delays. By giving them control over a small part of their current life, they regain their strength. And that is also the strength of this initiative.
Respect for other cultures is an absolute condition for participating as a volunteer. Mastering both Dutch is necessary. In addition, mastering the Arabic language (and/or English language) is an advantage (with regard to explanation/translation).
