Summary

Do you love pets and do you like to do something for the elderly/chronically ill? Then Animal Buddy is definitely something for you.

Detailed description

Looking for animal buddies in Apeldoorn, Twello, Groesbeek and Oldebroek

Dierenbuddy is looking for caregivers for the elderly, chronically ill or people with mental problems who have a pet. As animal buddies, volunteers from De Dierenbescherming help elderly/chronically ill people who own a pet to care for their animal if the owner is no longer fully able to do so.

It is extremely rewarding work, but it is not always easy. As a volunteer, in addition to caring for the pet, you have an important role in signaling whether the animal and the person seeking help are still doing well. As a volunteer you must know how to deal with the person seeking help and their often old animals.

Some of our clients live in nursing homes, but independently living elderly people, chronically ill people and younger people also call on our help.

We ask:

  • At least 2 to 3 hours of availability per week for a longer period (at least six months). Preference during the week/during the day;
  • Have an affinity and experience with pets;
  • Be down-to-earth, proactive and reliable;
  • Experience with older people, chronically ill people and/or mental health problems;
  • Agreement = agreement mentality;
  • Good social and communication skills.

We work with a schedule and expect that you will be scheduled for at least 1 half day per week to visit a person seeking assistance and his or her pet(s). It is therefore useful if you come from Apeldoorn, Twello, Groesbeek or Oldebroek itself.

We offer:

Interesting, varied and rewarding volunteer work with a team of fellow Animal Buddies who are happy to support and advise you. The national volunteer coordinator can also always be reached for questions and advice and you will be supported by the regional consultant.

Animal buddy is the opportunity to make an important contribution to the well-being of the elderly/(chronically) ill and their beloved pet!

Are you interested in becoming an Animal Buddy? Then apply now.

Our volunteer coordinator Amy Scholing will contact you as soon as possible to schedule an online intake interview. If you have any questions, please ask them via: [email protected]

Hopefully see you soon!
