Summary

Humanitas Apeldoorn is looking for volunteers for The Meeting House; a safe place for the child to see the non-custodial parent (again) after the divorce.

Detailed description

What is The Meeting House?

After a divorce, every child has the right to contact with both parents.

The Meeting House Apeldoorn offers a safe and neutral place for children to meet the non-custodial parent after a divorce without parents meeting each other.

Our goal is to promote the stable development and well-being of the child.

You as a volunteer make the difference!

The contact is supervised by motivated and trained volunteers.

As a volunteer you work on a positive and relaxed atmosphere, in which the child and the parent feel free with each other.

The Meeting House is open on Saturday mornings once every 2 weeks for the child/children and the parent, by appointment.

The child/children use the Meeting House for approximately 2 months to 1 year.

The volunteer does not have to keep a file and can focus on the child/children and the parent.

Activities:

  • the volunteer guides the contact between the child/children and parents
  • the contact takes place in the playroom of Humanitas Apeldoorn
  • the volunteer supports the children with the transition from one parent to the other
  • regular consultation and contact with the other volunteers
  • participation in intervision and other meetings

What does it bring you?

  • a valuable experience in which you can have a positive impact on the lives of children and parents
  • opportunity for personal growth and development, with support and training by professionals (intervision and theme meetings)
  • cooperation within a motivated team of volunteers and coordinator
  • a healthier, happier life according to volunteering research

What are you bringing?

  • social skills (listening, being able to make and maintain contact, setting boundaries)
  • life experience, involvement with children, parents and parenting
  • be able to handle privacy-sensitive data with care
  • a Declaration on Behavior (is requested by the coordinator and you)

Humanitas provides:

  • an extensive introductory meeting
  • a training before you start with the guidance
  • a generous mileage allowance
  • volunteer insurance
  • the coordinator supervises, monitors and supports the process

Time commitment

About 4 hours per month (1 Saturday morning supervisor and 1 Saturday morning back guard)

Would you like to make your time and knowledge available for this wonderful volunteer work? We would like to welcome you as a colleague in our team.
