Are you making a difference in someone's life?

We're looking for people who enjoy giving personal attention to someone who needs it. As a buddy at IrisZorg, you can truly make a difference in someone's life. Our clients often live in a small world with few family or friends. Loneliness is a constant threat. But as a buddy, you can break through this by simply doing fun things together and being there.

You'll meet about once every two weeks. You'll discuss what you're going to do together, for example, walking, cycling, or doing a puzzle. Some clients want to join a (sports) club or visit a community center, but are hesitant to take the first step. You can support them as a buddy, and you can go together. You can also help them find their way around a laptop or learn Dutch. Others would just like to chat and have coffee together. In short, there are plenty of options!

How do we proceed?

After you register, we'll have an introductory meeting where we'd love to hear from you about who you are, what your hobbies are, and what makes you happy. Afterward, we'll determine which client is the best fit for you. We'll do this very carefully, looking for similarities in hobbies, age, outlook on life, and so on. Once we've found a good match, we'll schedule an initial meeting.

What do you get in return?

Of course, you'll receive plenty in return for your enthusiastic efforts. You'll meet interesting people, each with their own unique story. You'll be a significant contributor to their recovery. This way, you'll experience how rewarding and meaningful it is to dedicate yourself to our clients. We'll ensure you can perform your volunteer work effectively. We offer guidance, training, insurance, clear agreements laid out in a volunteer agreement, and a volunteer allowance.

Who are you?

You're open-minded. You can empathize with others without judgment. You're reliable and able to connect effectively with our clients. When necessary, you can also be clear and set boundaries. You naturally know how to motivate and inspire others. You're available at least one half-day per week.

Who are we?

IrisZorg is there for all ages and all levels of society. We support people struggling with finances, relationships, work, or (mental) health. This is usually combined with addiction and/or (potential) homelessness. We support clients on their path to recovery through integrated addiction treatment and social support. We can certainly use your support as a buddy!
