Summary

In crisis situations, the Red Cross is sometimes called upon. That is why we are looking for enthusiastic and caring volunteers.

Detailed description

A heat wave in the summer or a pandemic in the winter can cause many problems in nursing homes and hospitals. That is why we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to perform essential care tasks in crisis situations. You will gain the necessary experience during an instructive training. Are you ready for vulnerable residents?

What does the work look like?

As a Red Cross care assistant, you provide temporary support in a care institution. Think of practical tasks such as guiding patients, delivering food or offering a listening ear.

In addition, you support the residents with their general daily living activities (ADL) such as washing, getting out of bed and dressing. You always perform your tasks under the responsibility of a healthcare professional.

When will I be deployed?

Every year you will be deployed at least four shifts to keep your experience up to date. The planning of these services is always done in consultation. We naturally hope that you will free up time in crisis situations in healthcare to be deployed extra.

As a care assistant you get:

  • An instructive and fun training including practical guidance at a healthcare institution in your region (Apeldoorn, Bemmel, Renkum or Wageningen;
  • The opportunity to gain experience and contacts in an emergency aid organization;
  • A reimbursement of (travel) costs incurred;
  • The chance to make a difference for vulnerable residents in care institutions;

What do we ask?

  • You are empathetic and know how to get things done;
  • You are physically able to perform care tasks during four-hour shifts;
  • Experience in care is welcome, but not required for this position;
  • It is important that you enjoy following the training and that you work a number of shifts per year to keep your skills up to date;
  • You are prepared to be deployed in the region during crisis situations;
  • You subscribe to the seven principles of the Red Cross.
