Summary

Our Red Cross volunteers can be confronted with intense or far-reaching events. Aftercare is required.

Detailed description

  Do you support the mental health of our volunteer first responders?

What are you going to do?

During their work, Red Cross volunteers can be confronted with violent or far-reaching events. To limit the consequences of this, both privately and for work, we offer aftercare through peer support. The aftercare team often offers short-term psychosocial support by telephone, but also knows the limits of that role. You know when to refer to professional help. Of course you treat information confidentially. As an aftercare volunteer you are part of a team of peer support in the district. Depending on the number of requests for aftercare, your commitment varies, 1-4 hours a week. This team falls under the responsibility of the Emergency Services Coordinator.

What do you get:

· Meaningful volunteer work, your help matters;

· Relevant training and guidance to prepare you for your task;

· New contacts, personal development and a nice addition to your resume;

· An additional insurance during the performance of your work;

· A reimbursement of your travel costs and any expenses.

What to bring:

· Experience with assistance as a professional is desired;

· Practical experience as an aid worker at the Red Cross is preferred;

· Empathy and good listening skills;

· Good oral and written communication skills;

Willingness to participate in training, workshops and intervision with other members of the peer support team;

· You are willing to sign a volunteer agreement, a VOG (certificate of conduct) will also be requested for you by the Red Cross.
