Summary

Help refugees with housing and the first integration steps in the municipality of Apeldoorn

Detailed description

There is a lot to consider when moving. This certainly applies to refugees who come to live in a Dutch municipality for the first time. Do you like to roll up your sleeves and help someone get started? Then we are looking for you!

As a social counselor you support refugees who are new to the municipality. Using a checklist, you together apply for benefits, such as benefits, furnishing credit and allowances. You also help with arranging a doctor, school, energy company, insurance, internet connection, etc. You explain how things are arranged in the Netherlands and regularly go through the mail together. The duration of the guidance is usually eight months. You keep track of progress in a client registration system. You have a coaching attitude and encourage clients to take steps towards self-reliance.

This is what it gives you

  • A stimulating working environment with room for your own development.
  • Plenty of opportunities to learn more about other cultures.
  • Pleasant team under the guidance of a professional.
  • Extensive induction program and the option to also follow all kinds of courses and training.
  • Travel or expense reimbursement.

What do you need to become a social counselor?

As a social counselor you have knowledge of the social map or are willing to acquire it. You are not deterred by bureaucratic regulations and forms (both on paper and digital) and you can provide clear but simple explanations. You like to work independently, you are strong on your feet and you can guard your own boundaries well. You are available at least two half-days a week, preferably for a period of one year. Naturally, we expect a respectful attitude towards cultural differences and honest handling of confidential information. We require a Declaration of Conduct from all our employees.
