Summary

“It is very substantive, you learn a lot from it. I really enjoy solving legal questions."

Thijs de Haan has been a VVA volunteer at an asylum seekers' center for 3 years

.
Are you interested in the stories of refugees? Do you see it as a challenge to properly analyze these and identify possible gaps? Do you want to work for fair procedures for asylum seekers? And do you like to work at different locations in the region? Then this volunteer position is really something for you!

Detailed description

Activities

As a Flight Story Analysis (VVA) employee, you analyze the client's flight story based on the file and provide insight into where the strengths and weaknesses are. You work at various locations within the Dutch Council for Refugees and, in consultation with a team leader, you examine where there is a need for analysts. In the first instance you will be occupied with reading and analyzing the files and then you will discuss this with the clients .

We ask

It starts with an affinity with legal procedures and the willingness to follow training courses. You also have good communication skills . You find it a challenge to read and analyze files intensively and then find that one loose end between the lines that allows you to move on. In addition, you are a go-getter and you have resilience. In addition, you like to travel to different locations in Gelderland and/or Overijssel and to work independently on the spot. You are available at least two half-days a week, preferably for a period of one year. We naturally expect a respectful attitude towards cultural differences and an honest handling of confidential information. We require a Declaration of Conduct from all our employees.

We offer

  • a stimulating work environment with room for your own development

  • plenty of opportunities to learn more about people from other cultures, countries such as Syria, Eritrea and Afghanistan, and Dutch and European legislation and regulations (including the Aliens Act, the Dublin Regulation).

  • pleasant team under the guidance of a professional

  • extensive induction program and the possibility to follow all kinds of (legal) courses

  • travel or expense allowance.
