Summary

The Oud Apeldoorn Association is looking for volunteers who are interested in the history surrounding the Roman Catholic Church and its many objects.

Detailed description

Not everyone knows it, but there is a real Treasury in the Church of Our Lady in Apeldoorn. This is a small museum that takes you back to the times of the 'Rich Roman Life'. In a beautifully decorated room you can see rosaries, silverware, clothing, books and other objects from times gone by. All this was brought together by Ben Pol, former sexton at the church. The Treasury can be visited every first Saturday of the month between 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM.

For many it is an unknown world into which they enter. The Roman Catholic Church was large and influential in our country until the middle of the last century. The pews were full from front to back, there were many priestly vocations and the church enjoyed political and social authority. Being Catholic was normal, self-evident.

We are now so far removed from that time that only the older parishioners have experienced this. Being Catholic is anything but self-evident – and that has its own positive aspects and challenges. Are you curious about what it once was like and would you like to hear more about it? Visit our Treasury. On Saturdays someone from the Oud Apeldoorn Association is present to show you around. Are you someone who likes to show people around this beautiful location? Then register as a volunteer.
