Summary
Do you teach refugee children to cycle? For most Dutch people, the bicycle is the ideal means of transport to get to the place of work easily and independently
Detailed description
For most Dutch people, the bicycle is the ideal means of transport to get to their destination easily and independently. For children who are new to the Netherlands, the bicycle is something new, while being able to cycle yourself gives so much freedom and pleasure. Are you that enthusiastic volunteer with patience who wants to teach children how to cycle with pleasure?
Wereldschool De Vlinder, the Cycling Union and the municipality of Apeldoorn are doing everything they can to teach refugee children to cycle and enjoy the freedom this provides. However, we cannot do this without the help of enthusiastic volunteers. The cycling lessons are on Friday morning on the schoolyard of Wereldschool De Vlinder, Markerichtersveld 1 in Apeldoorn.
Cycling lessons for children
Young children often learn to cycle quickly because they are not yet afraid. For children who can already cycle, we set up a cycle course with various exercises. The task of the cycling volunteers is mainly to make the lessons even more fun and challenging, for example through cycling games.
The older children are sometimes afraid of falling and, once they can cycle, they are afraid of traffic. The task of the bicycle volunteer is mainly to remove fear and practice a lot.
I want to, but how?
Fortunately, you don't have to reinvent the (bicycle) wheel yourself. We use the Fietsbond step-by-step plan, which covers both theory and practice. As a cycling volunteer, you know step by step what you can do to teach children to cycle in a good and fun way.
You are very welcome!
The Cycling Union, Wereldschool de Vlinder and the municipality of Apeldoorn do this together, but they cannot do this without volunteers. Are you enthusiastic and want to help? You are very welcome to come and have a look without obligation at De Vlinder, Markerichtersveld 1 in Apeldoorn, where we give cycling lessons every Friday morning between 9 and 10 am.
