Summary

Do you also have something to do with walking, cycling? Drinking coffee together? Painting nails? Then you might fit in as a buddy for Paula with an intellectual disability.

Detailed description

Who is Paula?

Paula is a cheerful woman of 61 years old with a severe intellectual disability, comparable to a baby. She lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo. She clearly enjoys one-on-one time. Paula does not speak but she can laugh out loud when she likes something. You can clearly see if she is enjoying herself. Paula is deaf or hard of hearing but she can easily seek and make contact by means of simple gestures. She likes to play with toys. Paula enjoys cycling with the tandem bike. During the day she is at the day care but she can get time off for an activity with her volunteer. It would be best if the volunteer could visit her in the evening or at the weekend.

What is Paula asking?

For Paula we are looking for someone who can walk or cycle with her on the tandem bike. Our residential care park is located in a wooded area so that is a suitable location for this. She also really likes it when someone can paint her nails. But also an hour of drinking a cup of coffee and having a chat in our Brasserie makes her happy. She can also enjoy a cup of coffee at the volunteer's home. Paula is looking for someone who has the patience to get to know her and her gestures. Her supervisors will be happy to help you with that.
