Summary
Jan has an intellectual disability and enjoys doing small, fun activities with a volunteerDetailed description
Who is Jan?
Jan is a 61-year-old man with a severe intellectual disability, comparable to the level of a toddler. He lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo where he receives 24-hour care. Jan is quiet, but when he feels comfortable he opens up more and seeks contact with you. He can talk at the level of a toddler. He enjoys socializing and having a chat. He can indicate what he wants and doesn't want. He can walk short distances, but if he can't do it, he uses a wheelchair. He likes to walk in the residential care park, have a cup of coffee somewhere, take a train ride or go to fun activities that 's Heeren Loo organizes. This doesn't have to last long, because then he gets overstimulated. He goes to a day care group every day where atmosphere and experience are paramount. He then walks and sorts screws. He is free on Friday afternoon.
What is Jan asking?
We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys coming especially for Jan. Someone who takes the trouble to get to know him better and build a bond. Going for a walk together, having coffee at our Brasserie or somewhere else, a ride on the train or something else fun. Just some Jan time. All this doesn't have to take long to enjoy. Preferably on a Friday afternoon or in the weekend or in the evening when the weather is nice, for example. Another day is also negotiable. An hour a month is already very valuable, but more often is of course even better! Would you like to come and meet us?
