Summary

Have a cup of coffee, watch the trains or take a car ride; Ali enjoys all the moments together

Detailed description

Who is Ali?

Ali is an 80 year old woman with a severe intellectual disability. She lives in a residential group at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo where she receives 24-hour care. Her developmental age is around 1.5 years. She can say a few words and understands easy commands. She needs a lot of structure and clarity, but also closeness and security. Due to her age, she is retired and has no daytime activities. She enjoys having a cup of coffee somewhere, taking a car ride, watching the trains or another fun outing. She gets a smile on her face when she hears the railway crossing bells from the garden. Every now and then she goes on the train, but that doesn't happen that often. Her supervisors are happy to tell you what else she likes. Unfortunately, Ali is not always relaxed and happy. Sometimes she can react aggressively towards herself and others due to tension, and she can then hit. Her supervisors will of course give you tools to deal with this. There is no reason not to go out with her anymore, because she can enjoy it so much.

What is Ali asking?

We are looking for a volunteer who will let her enjoy her old age. Someone who will pick her up and take her for a cup of coffee in our Brasserie or elsewhere. Take her for a car ride, go to the trains with her or have another fun outing. Her supervisors are happy to tell you what else she enjoys. Escape the crowd and spend time with Ali. Getting to know each other better and understanding that sometimes they are a bit tense and need help to relax again. So a volunteer who can keep the peace and does not shy away from negative behavior. The day, time and frequency are in consultation. Once a month is already of great added value. Will you take her with you in her old age?

We offer you

  • A nice volunteer place
  • An end-of-year gift
  • Insured for third party liability and accidents
  • Travel allowance
  • Annual volunteer party as a thank you for your efforts
  • Possibility of training and information meetings
  • Involved contribution to clients
  • Full appreciation and a priceless experience
