Summary
Rabia has severe multiple disabilities and enjoys being in the waterDetailed description
Who is Rabia?
Rabia is a 25-year-old woman with severe multiple disabilities. She functions at the level of a baby. She is completely dependent on her wheelchair due to her spasm in her arms and legs. The daily care for her is completely done by her supervisors. She loves people and socializing around her and it is essential that she feels heard and seen. When she is enjoying she is calm and looks happy. She experiences a quiet environment with action that can be followed for her. She relaxes when she can float in the water. She then has a bathing collar on, which keeps her afloat. In the water you hold her so that you float together. She goes into the water with a bath stretcher. In the water it is nice to talk or sing to her. The water and contact is very relaxing for her. Rabia is Muslim.
What does Rabia ask?
For Rabia we are looking for a volunteer who can swim with her once a week on a weekday. You then pick her up at her day care center and walk to the swimming pool on our property. There you change her clothes and then swim with her for a moment. Afterwards, shower her and change her clothes again to bring her back to the group.
There is always a lifeguard in the pool. Of course you will be trained in the care and swimming, so that even people who have no experience can respond.
The most important thing is that you take the time for her. That nice extra time that the supervisors don't have.
Because Rabia is Muslim, we are looking for a wife.
