Summary
We like to go to church on Sundays at our residential care park, but due to our mental and sometimes physical disabilities, we cannot go alone.Detailed description
Who are we?
We live in a residential group with 10 clients at the residential care park of 's Heeren Loo. The ages are between 65 and 80 years. There are people with a mild intellectual disability; comparable to a primary school age to people with a severe intellectual disability; comparable to a baby age. We enjoy the little things; like drinking a cup of coffee somewhere, walking, eating a cake, going to church and occasionally to a party at the residential care park. Because of our physical disability, we are all in wheelchairs outside. As a result, we often do not have enough hands to be able to go outside at the same time. Going to church together is therefore not an option. This is something that a number of clients really look forward to. We all experience this in our own way. One sways along to the songs and the other understands the story that is being told. A point of recognition and coming together.
What are we asking?
We are looking for volunteers who want to go to church with us on Sundays (het Vierhuis) at the residential care park. Volunteers who come to pick us up in the morning with the wheelchair and walk to the nearby Vierhuis. The church is there for everyone and everyone's faith. Afterwards we are happy to be brought back. Even if you do not believe, it is a place where you can enjoy the clients who enjoy themselves. Depending on the staffing that day, it is decided who will go and who can go. You will be trained well in this. We prefer to go to church every Sunday, but once every 2 weeks or once a month we are also very happy with it! Would you like to come along to see what it is like during such a service?
