Summary
If a conversation is not going well, there is a good chance that you have ended up in the rescuer triangle (Transactional Analysis).Detailed description
If a conversation is not going well, there is a good chance that you have ended up in the rescuer triangle (Transactional Analysis). This happens everywhere, at your (volunteer) work, at home or at the checkout in the supermarket. Our daily lives are full of it.
Within the rescuer or drama triangle, the roles are clear: there is a victim, a prosecutor and a rescuer. The role of one pushes the other into a different position. Victim behavior elicits rescuer behavior. The prosecutor turns the other into a victim. And so the roles change endlessly. This is not a healthy communication pattern and in this workshop you will gain insight into how this model works and how you can arrive at a different and healthy model: the potential triangle.
The following topics will be discussed:
- The difference between rescuing and helping;
- The different roles (rescuer, prosecutor, victim) that cause relationships to fail;
- The potential triangle;
- What is needed to provide effective assistance.
